This unit is well designed, with plenty of power, and has good speed control from 0 to maximum. It works well with the smallest to largest Lionel engines that I have. The bell, whistle, and direction controls work as they should. It is a very quiet unit, unlike my Lionel CW 80. The circuit breaker is very handy. If you should have a short across the tracks, it will open and you can fix the problem, reset the circuit breaker and continue. With the Lionel CW 80 you have to have special tools to open the case, replace the fuse or send the unit to the service center if you blow the fuse due to a short. Being an electronics engineer I think that this is a well designed unit.
